Colchester Hospital is launching a second minibus service in April to improve healthcare access in the Tendring area, funded by Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity and Tendring Community Transport.
The 14-seat vehicle, accommodating 10 passengers plus a wheelchair, will run Monday to Friday from 7:45 a.m., serving Holland on Sea, Clacton, Jaywick, and Great Bentley by pre-booking.
It aims to assist about 3,000 additional patients annually, particularly those in deprived areas with limited car access or mobility challenges.
The service was unveiled at a launch event attended by patients, staff, and officials, with early users praising its comfort and potential to reduce appointment delays.
Officials stress the importance of reliable transport in reducing health inequalities and enabling timely medical care.
