Charlotte hires Wes Miller, 43, as new men’s basketball coach, replacing Aaron Fearne.
Charlotte has hired Wes Miller, 43, former head coach at Cincinnati and UNC Greensboro, to lead its men’s basketball program, replacing Aaron Fearne, who was fired after three seasons.
Miller, a Greensboro native and former UNC player who won a national title in 2005, agreed to a five-year contract.
He posted a 185-135 record over 10 seasons at UNC Greensboro, leading the Spartans to two NCAA Tournaments, and a 100-74 mark in five years at Cincinnati, though neither program reached the NCAA Tournament under him.
Charlotte has not made the NCAA Tournament since 2005.
Athletic director Kevin White praised Miller’s vision and commitment to student-athlete development, while Miller emphasized building a tough, energetic program rooted in community pride.
