AIMIM and AJUP form alliance for West Bengal polls, targeting eight and 182 seats respectively, with voting April 23–29.
AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi announced on March 22, 2026, that his party will contest the West Bengal Assembly elections in alliance with Humayun Kabir’s Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP), with a joint press conference scheduled for March 25 in Kolkata. AJUP plans to contest 182 of the state’s 294 seats, while AIMIM will field candidates in about eight. The elections are set for two phases on April 23 and April 29, with vote counting on May 4. The main contest is expected between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the BJP.
