New Zealand agritech firm Halter seeks $3.4B valuation in new funding, boosting its smart livestock collar tech.
New Zealand-based agritech company Halter, founded in 2016 by Craig Piggott, is reportedly in talks for a funding round that could raise its valuation to over $3.4 billion, more than doubling its prior $1.65 billion valuation.
The round, potentially led by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, follows previous investments including a $165 million Series D and an $85 million Series C. Halter develops solar-powered smart collars for livestock using low-level electric pulses to improve herd management, with operations in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand.
The company, now incorporated in California but primarily based in Auckland, continues to expand its precision agriculture technology, leveraging data and connectivity to enhance farm efficiency and animal welfare.
Despite remaining private, Halter’s rapid growth has drawn strong investor interest, with Icehouse Ventures calling it its top-performing investment.
