A new Tibetan tap dance drama, "Auspicious Dance," premieres in Beijing on March 28, marking China’s first full-length production of its kind.
Performed at the China National Opera House through March 29, it draws on the intangible cultural heritage Lhaze Doishey and regional dance styles, telling a cross-generational story of an aid doctor, his daughter, and a Tibetan family.
Developed over three years by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and cultural aid programs, the production overcame high-altitude challenges and aims to preserve authentic Tibetan dance traditions while adapting them for the stage.
The debut coincides with Serfs' Emancipation Day in Xizang, highlighting its cultural significance.
