He led the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach for over 25 years, transforming it into a major annual event drawing about 200,000 visitors and generating roughly $100 million in economic impact.
Recognized for his leadership and community involvement, Michaelian was inducted into the Motorsports Walk of Fame in 2025.
His final race was expected to be the 2026 event.
The cause of death is not public, and his family has asked for privacy.
