Colorado launches peer support program for clergy to boost mental health and reduce stigma.
A new Colorado program, Clergy Outreach and Resilience (COR), trains priests and deacons to support each other through emotional and spiritual challenges, inspired by peer support models used in law enforcement.
Launched in January 2026, the initiative, led by Deacon Ernie Martinez, Father Brad Noonan, and clinical psychologist John Nicoletti, focuses on early recognition of distress, peer connection, and reducing stigma around seeking help.
About 40 clergy members participated in the initial training, learning to walk alongside one another in times of crisis.
The program emphasizes spiritual well-being, brotherhood, and resilience across the Archdiocese of Denver and the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
