A 41-year-old Calgary trucker will be sentenced on April 16 after pleading guilty to child luring in a U.S. online sting operation.
An Idaho detective posed as a 14-year-old girl, communicating with the man who sent sexually suggestive messages and encouraged the fake minor to call him “Daddy.” The two arranged a meeting at a truck stop near Idaho Falls, where he was arrested just before Christmas.
Authorities say he claimed the messages were impulsive and that he had no intent to meet.
The case resulted from a U.S.-led online investigation and will be sentenced in a Canadian court.
