West Virginia uses $2.9M from Juul settlement to fight teen vaping and smoking.
West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey has signed a law using $2.9 million from a $7.9 million settlement with Juul to fund youth anti-tobacco and vaping prevention programs.
The initiative, backed by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and over 1,200 petitions, targets the state’s high rates of teen vaping and smoking, which contribute to nearly 37% of cancer deaths.
The funding will support public health efforts to reduce tobacco use among young people.
