Turkmenistan awards $10B contract to China’s CNPC for gas plant expansion, boosting China gas exports under a 30-year plan.
Turkmenistan has awarded a $10 billion turnkey contract to CNPC’s Amudarya Petroleum Company to build a 10 billion cubic meter annual gas treatment plant and additional wells for the Galkynysh gas field’s fourth phase, advancing long-term energy cooperation with China.
The project, fully funded by Turkmenistan, follows an international tender and supports a 30-year development plan.
As of March 21, 2026, over 460 billion cubic meters of gas have been delivered to China via the Turkmenistan–China pipeline, with annual exports averaging 40 billion cubic meters.
