Suspected operatives disrupted a youth women's political forum in Nigeria, destroying equipment and scattering attendees.
On Friday, suspected political operatives disrupted the inaugural meeting of the African Democratic Congress Young Women Forum in Alesa Eleme, Rivers State, destroying equipment and scattering attendees.
Organizers said the event, aimed at empowering young women in politics, was not a campaign but a grassroots launch of the forum, organized with The Atosemi Movement.
The National Coordinator, Atosemi Oma-Uwame, condemned the attack as an attempt to suppress opposition voices and intimidate political expression, noting prior warnings against holding the event under the ADC name.
She emphasized the group promotes gender inclusion within the party, not feminism, and urged young women to pursue political office without hesitation.
