Mendez, the top seed at 141 pounds and aiming for his third straight title, defeated Lehigh’s Luke Stanich 4-1 in sudden victory overtime.
Davino, the second-seeded 133-pounder and Big Ten Freshman of the Year, advanced with a tiebreaker win over Penn State’s Marcus Blaze.
Both earned All-American honors and now seek their first individual national championships.
They train together and credit their rivalry for driving their success.
Mendez, undefeated this season, will wrestle Oklahoma State’s Sergio Vega, while Davino faces Jax Forrest.
The finals begin at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
