A Nigerian court blocks sale of late governor’s assets amid daughter’s legal challenge over inheritance and paternity.
A Nigerian high court has issued an injunction halting the sale or transfer of properties linked to the estate of late Oyo State governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, who died in 2022.
The order, granted in a case filed by his daughter Oluwatoyin Alao Aderinto, blocks executors and administrators from disposing of assets in Nigeria, the UK, US, and Ghana, including homes, land, and a hotel.
Aderinto claims unauthorized sales and seeks DNA testing and exhumation of her father’s remains to verify familial relationships.
The case is set for a ruling on April 16, 2026.
