John Carpenter’s first original graphic novel, *Cathedral*, is set for release on August 4, 2026, through Storm King Comics.
Co-written with Sandy King and Sean Sobczak, the 120-page horror story is set in downtown Los Angeles and follows Lieutenant Christine Marks and detectives Paul Hernandez and Steve Mayfield as they investigate a murder inside an abandoned cathedral, uncovering an ancient evil within its walls.
Inspired by a dream Carpenter described as a nightmare landscape filled with grotesque creatures, the novel features artwork by Federico De Luca and Luis Guaragna, coloring by Ryan Winn, and lettering by Marshall Dillon.
A companion album of music composed by Carpenter enhances the story’s atmosphere.
The release marks Carpenter’s debut in graphic storytelling, expanding his legacy beyond film.
