Iran rebuilt Hezbollah’s military post-2024 leadership loss, enabling a March 2 missile barrage that triggered a deadly Israeli offensive in Lebanon.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has led a major effort to rebuild Hezbollah’s military after its leadership was decimated in 2024, deploying around 100 officers to Lebanon shortly after a November ceasefire.
They restructured the group’s command from centralized to decentralized, cell-based units to improve resilience, oversaw rearmament, and helped plan coordinated attacks.
This overhaul enabled Hezbollah to launch hundreds of missiles at Israel on March 2, triggering a major Israeli offensive that has killed over 1,000 in Lebanon.
Despite ongoing strikes, Hezbollah remains a significant threat, with Iranian officials and IRGC personnel still active in the country, though Lebanon has asked some to leave.
