The Indian Navy will commission its stealth frigate INS Taragiri (F41) on April 3, 2026, in Visakhapatnam, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presiding. Built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd, the 6,670-ton vessel is the fourth in the Project 17A class and features over 75% indigenous content, supporting the 'Make in India' initiative. Equipped with advanced systems including supersonic missiles, medium-range air defense, and anti-submarine warfare capabilities, it is designed for multi-role missions such as combat, maritime security, and humanitarian aid. The frigate’s stealth design, CODOG propulsion, and integrated combat management system enhance its speed, endurance, and survivability, marking a key milestone in India’s push for self-reliance in naval defense.
