$100,000 in grants awarded to Belize conservation groups for protecting forests and caves from deforestation, poaching, and pollution.
$100,000 in grant funding has been awarded to two Belize-based conservation groups—Friends for Conservation Development and the Community Baboon Sanctuary—each receiving $50,000 through the Belize Nature Conservation Foundation’s program managed by PACT.
The funds will support conservation efforts, including strengthening patrols to protect the Chiquibul caverns from deforestation, poaching, and pollution that threaten underground ecosystems.
The broader initiative also provides over $2.7 million in endowment funds to several organizations, allowing up to 2% annual spending, to support tropical forest conservation and sustainable land management across Belize.
