Georgia student presents solar energy research to D.C. policymakers, linking rural energy needs to bipartisan clean energy support.
Emily Wright, a Georgia College senior and Council of Undergraduate Research scholar, traveled to Washington, D.C., to present her research on solar energy to policymakers.
Supported by the Scholars Strategy Network, she attended workshops on translating academic work into policy dialogue and met with staff from the offices of Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock and Representative Austin Scott.
Her research, focused on rural Georgia’s energy needs, highlighted the economic and infrastructure benefits of renewable energy, emphasizing its bipartisan appeal.
The visit coincided with ongoing discussions about a $7 billion clean energy program from the Biden administration and U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East, reinforcing Wright’s belief in the power of student-led research to influence national decision-making.
