Former BrewDog workers told to reapply after company sale; union calls it unlawful "fire and rehire."
Former BrewDog staff in the UK, including those at Glasgow’s Merchant City and Aberdeen’s Castlegate bars, have been told to reapply for their old jobs after the company’s collapse and sale to U.S. firm Tilray Brands.
The move, part of a pre-pack administration deal, has drawn backlash from Unite the Union, which calls it a "fire and rehire" scheme violating employment laws.
Workers, many of whom were dismissed with minimal notice and faced delayed pay, say the request feels exploitative and traumatic.
The union demands reinstatement with full rights, arguing employees should automatically transfer under the same conditions.
Tilray and administrators AlixPartners have not commented.
