Etihad Airways launched its first nonstop flight from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Abu Dhabi on March 21, 2026, marking the longest route in the airport’s history.
The inaugural flight, delayed by about an hour and lasting approximately 16 hours, used an Airbus A350-1000 instead of the expected Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The service, operating four times weekly, offers round-trip coach tickets for about $900 and enhances Charlotte’s global connectivity.
Despite regional instability, including a prior U.S. military strike on Iran that briefly closed Abu Dhabi’s airport, the route commenced as planned.
The flight marks Etihad’s fourth foreign carrier presence at CLT and the first scheduled A350 service from the airport.
