A Delhi court has asked the CBI to respond to a bail plea filed by Ayush Varshney, an IIT graduate and co-founder of Darvin Lab, in connection with a suspected ₹20,000 crore cryptocurrency fraud linked to the Gain Bitcoin scheme launched in 2015.
Varshney, arrested at an airport while allegedly trying to flee to Sri Lanka, remains in judicial custody until March 30.
He faces charges under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act for alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The case involves promises of 10% returns to investors, with parallel investigations by Delhi Police and the Enforcement Directorate.
The court has scheduled arguments for March 25.
