Algoma University and OLG launch 5-year partnership to boost Indigenous student placements in business, tech, and psychology with mentorship and cultural training.
A five-year partnership between Algoma University and Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) launched in February 2026 aims to expand work-integrated learning opportunities, especially for Indigenous students who make up 14% of the university’s enrolment.
The collaboration supports placements in business, computer science, and psychology, offering hands-on experience in data analysis, marketing, and digital innovation.
It includes developing industry-aligned curriculum, mentorship programs, and cultural sensitivity training.
OLG, based in Sault Ste.
Marie since 1992, has hired over 100 Algoma graduates, with plans to expand placements, conduct joint research on gaming and responsible gambling, and strengthen regional talent development through networking and reconciliation efforts.
La Universidad de Algoma y OLG lanzan una asociación de 5 años para impulsar las colocaciones de estudiantes indígenas en negocios, tecnología y psicología con mentoría y capacitación cultural.
