Ulster Hospital starts using body cameras for ER staff on March 19, 2026, to reduce violence after 1,911 incidents were reported.
Starting March 19, 2026, Ulster Hospital’s emergency department in Northern Ireland is rolling out body-worn cameras for staff to combat a rise in violence and abuse, following 1,911 reported incidents between April and December 2025.
The cameras, which staff can activate during perceived threats, record video and audio and are used only in escalating situations, with recording announced verbally.
The initiative aims to deter aggression, support staff safety, and reinforce a secure working environment without replacing existing protocols.
