A criminal syndicate is accused of stealing over 210 high-end Toyota vehicles worth more than $20 million from Victoria and Queensland between August and September 2025, then shipping them in containers to the United Arab Emirates.
Police in Melbourne raided four properties in Doveton and Seaford, arresting a 27-year-old man charged with conspiracy to steal, theft, and handling stolen goods in connection with 46 incidents.
Authorities seized three vehicles, electronic devices, and financial records.
The group allegedly used a Cranbourne West site to load stolen cars into containers at the Port of Melbourne, accessing vehicles through on-board computer systems via wiring.
The operation reportedly moved from Victoria to Queensland after being disrupted in October 2025.
Police say shipping companies were likely unaware of the stolen contents and urge car owners to lock doors and windows and park in well-lit areas, noting that while 80% of stolen vehicles in Victoria are recovered, theft remains a concern.
