Starting March 23, 2026, Stagecoach buses in Moray and the Scottish Highlands will launch a 12-month pilot capping single adult and child fares at £2, part of a Scottish Government-funded program aimed at improving transport affordability.
The cap applies automatically on ticket machines and the Stagecoach app, with fares unchanged if already below £2.
Return, DayRider, and MegaRider tickets are excluded, as are certain cross-boundary routes like 10, 35/X35, and M96 involving Aberdeenshire.
Concessionary travel remains unaffected.
The pilot follows a successful trial in Orkney, where about 75% of passengers benefited initially.
