Patrick Ryan Gifford was arrested and charged with arson and other offenses in connection with a 2025 fire that destroyed a home in Cambridge, Maryland.
Patrick Ryan Gifford, 28, of Cambridge, was arrested on March 19, 2026, and indicted on March 16 on multiple charges related to a fire that destroyed a Race Street home on August 27, 2025.
Authorities say the blaze, which started around 10:15–10:18 a.m. following an argument, caused $250,000 in damages, displaced five people, and required 36 firefighters to contain.
Gifford faces charges including first-degree arson, attempted arson, malicious burning, property destruction over $1,000, and three counts of reckless endangerment.
If convicted on all counts, he could receive up to 95 years and six months in prison and fines of $123,000.
He was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
The case is being handled by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office and the Cambridge Police Department.
