A man was fined $2,200 for displaying Nazi symbols on a council bin for six years, part of a broader crackdown after a 2025 anti-Semitic attack.
Jamie Wilson, 44, was fined $2,200 after a court convicted him in absentia for displaying Nazi symbols on his council-issued garbage bin for about six years.
Police confirmed two large swastikas during a February 2026 visit to his home in Cessnock, where Wilson admitted to the act and revealed two Nazi-related tattoos he said he got while incarcerated.
Though he agreed to remove the paint, authorities seized and photographed the bin, leading to charges.
The case is part of a broader crackdown following the December 2025 Bondi anti-Semitic terror attack, prompting tougher penalties including fines and up to two years in prison under new NSW laws.
Similar charges have been filed against others in the Hunter region, and federal legislation is being considered to create new Commonwealth offenses for public displays of hate group symbols.
