Luke Hanif Sekkouah was sentenced to life in prison for murdering his partner Erica Hay in a fiery attack in April 2024.
Luke Hanif Sekkouah, 37, was sentenced to life in prison with a 24-year non-parole period for the brutal murder of his partner, Erica Hay, 30, in April 2024.
He stabbed her multiple times during a violent argument over drugs, money, and relationships, then set their Warnbro home on fire using turpentine and beer, killing her as their three-year-old daughter remained inside.
Sekkouah lied to authorities, claiming he discovered the fire and didn’t know Hay was missing.
The court heard he continued attacking Hay after she fell and used fire to destroy evidence.
Despite a psychiatric evaluation suggesting possible trauma-related conditions, Judge Natalie Whitby found no mitigating factors, calling the crime “sustained, relentless, and brutal.” He also received a concurrent seven-year sentence for criminal damage by fire.
The sentence is backdated to April 2024.
