A jury awarded $22.5 million to Chelsea Walsh after finding TQL liable for her daughter’s death due to denied work accommodations during a high-risk pregnancy.
A Hamilton County jury ordered Total Quality Logistics (TQL) to pay $22.5 million after finding the company liable for the death of Magnolia Walsh, born at 20 weeks in February 2021.
The verdict followed a lawsuit claiming TQL failed to accommodate Chelsea Walsh’s request to work from home during a high-risk pregnancy, despite medical recommendations for modified bed rest.
Walsh, who had undergone surgery to prevent premature labor, was denied remote work and offered unpaid leave instead.
The company only approved remote work on February 24—after she was hospitalized and delivered her daughter.
The jury assigned 90% of fault to TQL, citing its refusal to accommodate her medical needs.
TQL expressed disagreement with the verdict and said it is reviewing legal options.
