Michael Bambang Hartono, Indonesia’s richest man and co-founder of the Djarum tobacco empire, died at 86 in Singapore.

Hartono, worth over $43.8 billion, played a key role in growing Bank Central Asia into Indonesia’s largest private bank and was recognized for his philanthropy and achievements in bridge, winning a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
The Djarum Group confirmed his passing, citing no cause of death, though he had previously suffered from COPD and a heart attack.
