India's push to combat HIV in 18 districts, focusing on better testing, treatment, and prevention ahead of 2027.
The Indian Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, through NACO, held the Suraksha Sankalp Karyashala in Delhi on March 20, 2026, to strengthen HIV responses in 18 priority districts—seven in Delhi and 11 in Haryana.
The event, chaired by Dr. Rakesh Gupta, focused on advancing data-driven, localized strategies to achieve the global 95:95:95 HIV targets, with Haryana showing progress at 81:83:95 while Delhi lags, with only about 70% of diagnosed individuals on treatment.
Both states aim for 95:95:99, with efforts targeting improved testing, treatment linkage, retention, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission.
Delhi’s HIV prevalence is 0.33% (59,079 cases), Haryana’s is 0.24% (59,642 cases).
The workshop brought together district teams to align on action plans, promote coordination, and accelerate progress toward controlling HIV/AIDS by World AIDS Day 2027.
