India approves ₹1,118 crore rail link to connect Sikh holy site Takht Sri Damdama Sahib to national network.
On March 20, 2026, the Indian government approved a ₹1,118 crore, 42.9-kilometer broad gauge railway line connecting Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Punjab to the national rail network.
The Raman Mandi-Sadda Singhwala project, part of the Mansa-Bathinda doubling initiative, will link the holy site to the other four Sikh Takhts by rail for the first time.
Spanning Mansa and Bathinda districts, it includes six stations, 55 road underbridges, and two major bridges, with no level crossings.
The project, described as a long-standing demand fulfilled under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, aims to improve pilgrimage access and address past infrastructure neglect.
