An illegal occupation of Dublin’s historic Arran House, posing fire and asbestos risks, has prompted legal action by the city council.
A historic 1890s building in Dublin’s north inner city, Arran House, is being illegally occupied, Dublin City Council told the High Court.
The listed property, part of a redevelopment tied to a refurbished market set for completion in 2027, showed signs of unauthorized entry in February, including altered locks and people inside refusing to identify themselves.
Police responded to noise complaints involving 20 to 30 young people on the roof in March.
Judge Brian Cregan granted the council permission to pursue legal action, citing urgent fire safety risks and potential asbestos.
The case returns next week.
