George Takei unveils AI exhibit at LA museum, preserving WWII incarceration stories through interactive survivor interviews.
Actor and activist George Takei has launched an AI-powered exhibit at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, using StoryFile technology to preserve firsthand accounts of Japanese American survivors of World War II incarceration.
Set to debut in late 2026 as part of the museum’s Pavilion renovation, the interactive installation allows visitors to ask questions, with AI generating real responses from recorded interviews with Takei and other survivors.
Located in the museum’s Democracy Lab—a site tied to the forced removal of Japanese Americans—the exhibit aims to ensure these stories endure.
A public preview is scheduled for Saturday, with tickets available online.
