Florida State kicker Conor McAneney, a transfer from Quincy University, was arrested in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday on two third-degree felony charges—battery on a law enforcement officer and violently resisting arrest—along with a first-degree misdemeanor charge of trespassing.
According to police, he became uncooperative and physically resisted officers during a detention attempt near a beach during spring break.
McAneney, originally from Northern Ireland, was taken to a hospital for evaluation before being booked into jail on a $2,750 bond.
Florida State has suspended him indefinitely from all team activities.
He had joined the Seminoles in January and was competing for the starting kicker role following the departures of Jake Weinberg and Brunno Reus.
