A Delhi court acquitted two men of UAPA terrorism charges due to insufficient evidence linking them to ISIS.
A Delhi court has acquitted Jamsheed Zahoor Paul and Parvaiz Rashid Lone of UAPA charges linked to alleged ISIS ties, ruling the prosecution failed to prove their involvement in terrorism or association with the group beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case, based on a 2018 FIR over alleged ISIS recruitment and weapon procurement by youth from Jammu and Kashmir, relied on seized pistols and claims of ideological promotion.
However, the court found flaws in evidence handling, including unverified weapon recovery and lack of forensic analysis, and noted the prosecution did not meet its burden of proof.
One accused died, and another remains at large.
