Dehradun police arrested Ranjit Sharma for murdering his wife Rupa, whom he strangled and dumped in a forest after she returned demanding he leave his second wife.
Dehradun police have arrested Ranjit Sharma, 32, in connection with the murder of his wife, Rupa, 30–32, whose body was found in a plastic sack in a forest near Premnagar on March 11.
Authorities say Sharma, a daily wage laborer from Bihar, had two wives and confessed to strangling Rupa on March 8 after she returned to him in February, demanding he leave his second wife and child.
He took a motorcycle and ₹1,500 on March 8, falsely claiming he was sending her to Bihar.
When he returned the bike, he gave a false account, prompting police to investigate.
A post-mortem confirmed death by strangulation, and the body was dumped near the Bala Sundari Temple.
Sharma was arrested under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with a reward of ₹7,500 offered for the investigation.
