Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma filed his nomination for the Jalukbari assembly seat on March 19, launching a campaign rally ahead of the April 9 polls.
He seeks a sixth consecutive term, having represented the seat since 2001.
Other key candidates include opposition leader Debabrata Saikia from Nazira, Congress’s Ripun Bora from Barchalla, and regional leaders Lurinjyoti Gogoi and Akhil Gogoi from Khowang and Sivasagar.
Nomination scrutiny is set for March 24, with candidacies able to be withdrawn until March 26.
Results will be announced on May 4.
