On March 20, 2026, Aotearoa-based duo Aro released their new concept album Tāwauwau, the latest chapter in a four-album series honoring Aotearoa’s natural heritage.
Created during a year spent living in a caravan with their children, the album blends reo Māori and English with jazz, folk, soul, and rhythmic elements, exploring themes of family, journey, and connection to land.
It marks a shift toward a more fantastical, immersive sound.
The release is accompanied by the nationwide Secret Sun Tour, running from late March through early May, with shows in communities across Aotearoa announced via social media.
The album was supported by Te Māngai Pāho, and Aro, known for their award-winning, whānau-centered artistry, have previously earned accolades including Best Pop Album at the 2024 Waiata Māori Music Awards.
