Ukraine struck Russian aircraft plants, damaging military planes and infrastructure, aiming to disrupt Russia’s military supply chain.
On March 16, Ukraine reportedly struck the Aviastar aircraft plant in Ulyanovsk, Russia, damaging hangars, parking areas, and several aircraft, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
The facility, part of Russia’s state-owned Rostec, produces military transport and tanker planes like the Il-76 and Il-78M-90A.
On March 17, Ukraine claimed a separate drone attack hit a repair plant in Staraya Russa, Novgorod Oblast, targeting Il-76 maintenance facilities.
Russia did not confirm the strikes but said it intercepted Ukrainian drones in the regions.
Ukraine says these attacks are part of a strategy to disrupt Russia’s military supply chain deep inside its territory.
The full extent of the damage remains under assessment.
