Marriages in South Korea rose 8.1% to 240,300 in 2025, the highest in seven years and the third straight year of growth, according to the Ministry of Data and Statistics.
First-time marriages made up 82.6% of unions, with average first marriage ages at 33.9 for men and 31.6 for women.
International marriages declined slightly to 20,700, or 8.6% of all marriages, down from 9.3% the prior year, with Vietnamese women the largest group among foreign brides and U.S. men the most common among foreign husbands.
Divorces fell 3.3% to 88,100, continuing a six-year decline, with average divorce ages at 51.0 for men and 47.7 for women, while divorces involving international couples rose 4.2% to 6,300.
