Richard Zornes, 56, of Boone County, was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly firing a shotgun at a woman during a domestic dispute at a Burlington home.
Authorities say he threatened the victim, who had an on-again, off-again relationship with him, and fired a shot that missed her head, narrowly endangering another person inside.
Zornes fled the scene, and his vehicle was later found near his residence.
A drone spotted him fleeing a tent in the woods near his home around 10:40 a.m., leading to his arrest.
He faces charges including attempted murder in a domestic violence context, wanton endangerment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and terroristic threatening.
He is held on a $1 million bond.
