A North Dakota man charged in the 2026 disappearance and alleged murder of a 24-year-old woman must undergo two mental health evaluations.
A Fargo man, Joshua Alexander Hite, 21, charged in the 2026 disappearance and alleged murder of 24-year-old Isadora Wengel, has been ordered to undergo two mental health evaluations—one to assess his competency to stand trial and another to determine criminal responsibility due to mental illness.
The evaluations, mandated by a Cass County judge on March 16, will be conducted at the North Dakota State Hospital, with results expected within 30 days.
Hite faces murder, tampering with evidence, and providing false information charges after authorities found blood, DNA, a 12-inch blade, and towels in a dumpster near his apartment.
Investigators also say he used Wengel’s phone to send messages to her family, falsely claiming she was alive.
Wengel’s body has not been found.
The case remains ongoing, with a felony dispositional conference set for April 30.
