Netflix is adapting Annabel Lyon’s novel *The Golden Mean* into a 2026 historical drama series about Aristotle’s mentorship of Alexander the Great.
Netflix has greenlit a series adaptation of UBC professor Annabel Lyon’s 2009 novel *The Golden Mean*, titled *Alexander*, to be created by Jacob Tierney, known for *Heated Rivalry*.
The historical drama will explore the three-year mentorship between philosopher Aristotle and young Alexander the Great in the mid-fourth century BCE, focusing on themes of power, identity, desire, and the emotional toll of leadership.
Set amid political upheaval and war, the series aims to portray queer relationships with authenticity, reflecting historical context and contemporary relevance.
Lyon, who won the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize for the novel, praised Tierney’s sensitivity to complex relationships.
The series is set for release in 2026.
