A $17 million infrastructure upgrade at Hood Aerodrome in Masterton, New Zealand, has been completed, funded by a $10 million government grant and $7 million from the local council.
The project included runway resurfacing and widening, upgraded lighting, new access roads, improved utilities, and security fencing to meet aviation safety standards.
It supports agricultural aviation, emergency services, Life Flight operations, and future passenger air services, while enabling 27 new hangar sites and enhancing flood resilience.
Officials say the upgrades strengthen the aerodrome’s role as a vital regional asset for economic growth and rural connectivity.
