A former SDSU police sergeant pleaded guilty to possessing child abuse material, with over 600 images found in his home.
Paul Aurelio McClain, a 46-year-old former San Diego State University police sergeant, pleaded guilty in federal court to possessing child sexual abuse material involving children as young as 6 to 8.
Authorities discovered over 600 images and videos on a hard drive at his Riverside County home during a 2024 Homeland Security Investigations operation on a peer-to-peer network.
McClain, who served with SDSU police since at least 2023 but was not assigned to child exploitation cases, was arrested in March 2025 and terminated immediately.
He faces up to 20 years in prison, lifetime supervised release, and financial penalties when sentenced on June 24.
