Form Energy launches its first global iron-air battery project in Ireland, with a 10-MW, 1,000-MWh system set for 2029.
Form Energy has launched its first international project, a 10-megawatt, 1,000-megawatt-hour iron-air battery system in northwest Ireland, to be built at its West Virginia factory and operational by 2029.
The system, designed for up to 100 hours of energy storage, supports Ireland’s clean energy goals and grid reliability under its 2024 Electricity Storage Policy Framework.
The partnership with FuturEnergy Ireland marks Form Energy’s global expansion and follows recent U.S. deals, including one with Xcel Energy for a Google data center.
The announcement was attended by officials from Ireland, Massachusetts, and Somerville.
