Center Parcs has begun planting trees at its new £450 million Scottish resort, set to open in 2029, creating 1,200 jobs and boosting the local economy.
Trees have been planted at the site of Center Parcs’ first resort in Scotland’s Borders, near Hawick, marking a major milestone for the £450 million project set to open in 2029.
The Scottish Government is investing £30 million over five years to support infrastructure, with the development expected to create around 1,200 permanent jobs and 700 construction jobs.
Officials say it will boost the local economy by £75 million to £87 million annually, attract more tourism, and help reduce regional inequality.
Traffic concerns have been addressed through a traffic impact assessment, and enabling work, including access roads, will begin soon.
The resort will feature hundreds of thousands of trees and include a fenced area with controlled public access.
