BAE Systems sells its final 6.9% stake in Air Astana for $31 million, exiting the airline as it refocuses on core defense projects.
BAE Systems is selling its remaining 6.9% stake in Kazakhstan’s Air Astana, worth about $31 million, following the earlier sale of a 10.1% share in December 2025.
The divestment, part of a secondary offering of 6.1 million global depositary receipts, reflects BAE’s shift toward core defense priorities like fighter jets and submarines.
Air Astana said the move is natural as the airline is no longer a strategic focus for BAE, which initially invested under $10 million in 2001 to support its launch.
