A group of artists embarked on a series of boxcar journeys across Canada’s remote regions in March 2026, using the moving train cars as mobile studios to capture the country’s rugged natural scenery. The initiative, organized by a nonprofit arts collective, aimed to highlight underrepresented landscapes and support emerging painters. Participants traveled through mountainous and forested areas in British Columbia, Alberta, and the Yukon, sketching and painting en route. The project concluded with an exhibition in Ottawa, showcasing over 50 works inspired by the transient views from the rails.
